Walter Writes AI Integrations: What Connects and What Does Not

Updated · WalterWritesAI.com

Short answer: October 2026

Walter Writes AI works with Claude, Codex and other MCP clients through one Walter MCP server, with Google Docs, Gmail and other sites through its Chrome extension, with Zapier through two actions, and with custom software through its API. It has iPhone and Android apps. Walter’s own pages list WordPress and Shopify as “coming soon”, and no Google Docs add-on was found. Every integration uses a Walter account and its word or credit balance.

Does Walter Writes AI work with Claude?

Yes, through MCP (Model Context Protocol). Walter’s Claude guide (updated June 6, 2026) says to add a custom connector in Claude’s settings, enter the remote server URL Walter provides, then sign in to Walter and allow access. It lists three tools: Humanize, Detect and Batch Humanize, with batches of up to 25 items. Walter states that it “requires a separate Walter Writes AI account with its own word balance”, so Claude does not supply the words. Walter also publishes Walter Skills, an MIT-licensed set of Claude skills that rely on the MCP connection.

Does Walter work with Codex and other MCP clients?

Yes. Walter’s Codex guide (updated September 8, 2026) adds the same server from the Codex CLI or desktop app and signs in with OAuth instead of an API key. The page says Walter “works the same way across Codex, Claude, Gemini CLI, ChatGPT and any other MCP client”, with the same three tools.

Does Walter work with ChatGPT?

Partly. Walter’s ChatGPT setup notes say MCP client access is in beta in ChatGPT and available in Developer mode for eligible Plus and Pro accounts on the web. It is not a ChatGPT app-directory listing. Walter’s site footer also links two custom GPTs named AI Humanizer and AI Detector; this guide could not read their author details behind ChatGPT’s sign-in.

Does Walter work in Google Docs and Gmail?

Through the browser, yes. Walter’s Chrome extension page says you can highlight text in Gmail, Google Docs, LinkedIn, Notion, Slack, ChatGPT, Claude and X to humanize it or check it for AI. No Google Workspace add-on was found. Walter’s mobile page says drafts, history and settings sync across web, the Chrome extension and mobile, and that paid plans are shared across them.

Does Walter work with Zapier?

Yes. The Walter Writes AI app on Zapier has two actions and no triggers: Humanize Text, and Detect & Humanize Text, which humanizes only when the AI score is above a threshold you set. A Zap therefore needs another app, such as a form or spreadsheet, to start it.

Is there a Walter Writes AI API?

Yes. Walter’s API page and documentation describe humanizer, AI detector, plagiarism, grammar and image detection endpoints, plus a voice detector and a combined detect-and-humanize call. Requests authenticate with an API key in the X-API-Key header. API use is billed separately from the web plans, from one monthly credit balance on Walter’s developer platform. The humanizer endpoint accepts 50 to 2,000 words per request and allows 3 synchronous requests per minute per user. Check the developer platform for current API pricing; this guide does not repeat it.

Does Walter have a WordPress plugin or Shopify app?

Not yet. Walter’s WordPress page says the native integration is coming soon, and its Shopify page says the same of its app. Until then, the Chrome extension or a Zapier workflow are the documented ways to bring Walter into those editors. For team publishing workflows, see the content-team checklist.
